COMMUNITY WORK

Funded by the European Solidarity Corps, the project “Arts Lab” aims to develop alternative museums with the involvement of both local and international artists. The Jewish Memorial Open-Air Museum - JEMOM will be implemented in partnership with the Moldova Special High School in Târgu Frumos.

One of the objectives of JEMOM 1.0 was to organize five creative and interactive workshops for at least 100 young people aged 13 to 30 from Târgu Frumos and neighboring communities, with the goal of gathering ideas and motivating them to actively engage in promoting and continuing the project.

Together with 26 international volunteers, we developed two interactive methodologies to inspire young people to contribute ideas and become more involved in the project. We engaged over 340 children and young people and created two mobile exhibitions on the history of Jews in Târgu Frumos.

Additionally, we developed an art residency at Liceul Special Moldova Târgu Frumos for 37 young participants with visual impairments. We spent five days in an artistic residency with them, and the outcomes of this residency can be explored in the following pages

With the help of our volunteers, the students of the school are able to create stunning art in the field music, painting, architectural modelling, clay, and more. They have the chance to explore new ways of expressing themselves and their emotions, often in fields that they would have never had the chance to try otherwise. Our residencies also provide them with the opportunity to interact with people from other countries in a non-formal education setting, allowing them to make international friends. The aim of every volunteer is to make these days the best experience possible for the students, showing them the freedom of art.
