Contest for Young Artists

Starting from October 9th, on Romania's National Day of Commemoration for the Victims of the Holocaust, we invite you to participate in the **JEMOM 1.0 art contest, where the central theme is the Iași Pogrom. This contest is an invitation to honor and commemorate the victims of the “Death Train” from Târgu Frumos through art.

Under the motto **"Art for Commemoration, Let’s Bring Light!"**, we challenge you to express your thoughts and emotions through art, reflecting on this dark chapter of history.

The "Jewish Memorial Museum of Târgu Frumos - JEMOM 1.0" project aims to create a digital Jewish Memorial Museum to preserve and promote the cultural and historical heritage of the Jewish community in Târgu Frumos. It will provide an alternative space for commemorating and learning about the history of this community, including the tragic events related to the death trains.

In the Jewish cemetery in Târgu Frumos, there is also a massive common grave (25 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and 2.5 meters deep), dug to bury the bodies unloaded at Târgu Frumos from the "first death train." The mass grave is marked by a memorial monument with an inscription in Romanian and Hebrew: "In memory of the 640 Jews buried here, victims of fascist barbarism, killed in the 'death train' on June 29-30 and July 1, 1941. Let us not forget the crimes of fascism!"

Today, the cemetery is overgrown with wild bushes and dense vegetation. More details about the project can be found on the project’s website: [https://jemom.supertineri.org](https://jemom.supertineri.org).

The **top six selected artworks** will receive the opportunity to participate in an **Erasmus+ art project in Greece**, where you will collaborate with other creative young people from across Europe.
